Disney World Half Marathon Training Update – week 6

I have time to blog this morning because I am NOT doing my long run.

The humidity that should have already been gone for the summer is still here and I just can’t. I want to, I just can’t. So I’ll save my 4 miler (it’s a lower mileage week) until Monday when things look much better. I’m not usually very good with flexibility with my training plans so this is good for me. 2 days won’t change anything. Wait, will it? No, no it won’t.

My face here says it all. This was before last week’s super humid long run. NO MORE SUPER HUMID LONG RUNS! UGH! Although my outfit is adorable, I must say . . . please ignore my 1995 bathroom.

Last weeks 6.5 miler went better than I expected when I took the picture above. I was happily surprised with how well it went considering I did NOT NOT NOT want to do it.I did a video on it you can find on the Facebook Page.

Doing the Galloway plan where the only goal is to finish is quite nice – I don’t feel stressed at all and actually my times are fine and right in line with where I’ve always been. So maybe the “less is more” strategy is a good one, at least for this stage of my life.

Me and a few of my Skirt Sisters! Love those girls. Are we adorable or WHAT??

I am going to do some shopping today for some new Skirt Sports stuff and I can’t wait to show you what I bought! As many of you know, I have been an Ambassador for them for a while now, and I continue to LOVE not only the products but the mission and leadership of the company. It’s important to me that they are in the business of empowering ALL women to be active and healthy and feel comfortable when they move! If you’d like to save money, you can use my code FALL20WIN and you’ll get 20% off your purchase! (conditions apply because you know, conditions always apply)

Oh, I also changed my travel plans for marathon weekend this week! After waiting and watching for a discount that never came, I have switched our reservation for the first 2 days to the Hilton Bonnet Creek Orlando and I am super excited about it! (when you go to that page go to the middle and click on Book Now under where it says Marathon weekend. If you use the other tab to the right you don’t get the special rates). I was able to get a rate of $139 and it includes a lot of extras AND race transportation. Everyone I’ve chatted with that’s stayed there has said it’s a great call for race weekend and at that price, how could we resist?? Now what to do with the $600 I saved by not staying at Wilderness Lodge . . .hmmmmm. The rest of our stay is on DVC points at the Boardwalk because I am cheering for the full and want to be able to just grab my signs and coffee and head out to my spot to cheer everybody on! So excited!

For most of us, life is getting ready to get CRAZY as the holidays are staring us down. It’s my favorite time of year but also can get super stressful, so let’s all remember to take really good care of ourselves, lower our expectations, and listen to our bodies!! See you out there!
