Review! Special K Chewy Snack Bars!

The folks at Special K sent me some cool stuff. I mean really, really cool stuff.

YAY for fun packages!! A yoga mat, an iTunes gift card, a great water bottle, some fun hair ties from Knotties, EOS lip balm AND great snack bars? YES PLEASE!!!!
Coincidentally, it all came right before Christmas, so I’m assuming Special K has special elves that knew just what a busy mom and runner needed.
You see, as I’m been tapering for my 4th (AND FINAL! maybe . . .) marathon, I have been RUNGRY. I know you’ve heard of hangry (hungry + angry) but RUNGER is a feeling quite a bit stronger than hungry and, as my family can attest to, capable of causing more extreme personality changes. Bless their hearts.
Me doing a half marathon at Disney World last month. I was “rungry” after that, too;).
When I’m logging 40 plus miles a week, and particularly any of the days after a double digit long run weekend, I’m pretty much hungry ALL THE TIME and will grab anything and everything within arm’s reach. Often times, that leads to less than ideal choices. Did you know many people GAIN weight when they train for a marathon? Seems unfair, yes? Some of it is muscle, but not all. Having good choices on hand when RUNGER strikes is the key to success.

I’ve mentioned before that cereal is a “go to” for me when I’m training, so when the Special K Chewy Snack Bars came in the mail I was pretty excited.

At only 100 calories and 6 grams of sugar, the stats checked out. That’s the perfect amount to curb my hunger and get me through to the next meal.
All the flavors were good, but I had a stand out favorite (more on that in a minute) and I immediately hid all four boxes. Because I love my children, but they aren’t running a marathon in 2 weeks so they need to keep their mitts of my snack bars. Bless their hearts.

The yoga mat that came in my goody bag is actually a crazy coincidence (or the universe trying to tell me something) because taking up yoga is on my list for the New Year. I may be too shy to try an actual class so may do videos to start. But gosh, with the right gear, maybe a class would be a good call!
They specifically told me to be honest about the bars, and I can honestly tell you I loved them. The Salted Caramel Pretzel ones were amazing – the perfect consistency for me and the taste definitely satisfied my crazy sweet tooth. Sweet and salty together is my favorite.
They will be available in stores everywhere in January and I will absolutely be buying them. You can go to their website here and you can also follow them on Facebook for more information!! I will especially be waiting on the Salted Pretzel Chocolate ones. Did I already mention how much I loved those?
Happy running and snacking!
